Any way this could possibly be held a little closer in to DC? I don't mean to be snarky/jerky/bitchy, but Manassas is like 30 miles outside of DC and more than 20 miles outside of the Beltway, and from what I recall of the last swap that was in Mansassas, the location was not Metro or bus accessible -- is that still true?

I'd really love to be involved in the DC-area fat community, but most activities aren't held in a location that is mutually accessible by fats from across the region (a "Metro area" size acceptance group recently closed because all the activities were held WAY outside of DC), and without a car, I'm uncomfortable attending an evening event where I can't guarantee my trip home.

Unfortunately, my apartment is too small to host more than 3 or 4 people comfortably -- otherwise, I'd love to host something! I want to be part of the solution instead of just bitching about the problem -- how can I help?

I totally get this, I swear. They've been held in Manassas because that's where I live, and it sucks that Manassas isn't rail or (on a practical level) bus accessible. But I also offer a Metro shuttle every time, both ways, so I'm not sure how else to address that problem.

There's a metro area FA group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/metrofats/) that holds events in DC itself. I don't know how active they are, but those folks might be good ones to approach about places to hold a swap inside the city.

I was a part of that group for a while and there was never any activity, so I left. But I'll check it out again. :)

I totally understand re: location. If the event changes location, please post! I have a bunch of things I'd love to swap with other fats in size 24 & 26.

Yeah, I checked when I went to go find the link, and it looks like they haven't had any activity in months. That's too bad. Definitely let me know if you change your mind about coming out this way, though. We'll pick you up at the Metro and drop you back off afterward, so transportation shouldn't be an issue. (And if you decide to hold something in DC proper, let me know and I'll help you promote it!)
