(New poster!)
I recently got
this top in the colour they call Mandarin Red--which is a very bright orange. (Not sure if it's on the site at this point, but I bought my shirt in one of their local stores) (side note: my size is 18-20)
As is my habit, when I get home from shopping, I get the new stuff washed.
But this new top required more than my usual toss-it-into-a-cold-wash deal, and I am hoping that if anyone else gets this top, they'll have a better idea of what to do with it. Also, if anyone else has had this issue with this shirt and or other clothing items, would you be so kind as to tell me (and everyone else) what you did to stop the colour from bleeding?
Wear gloves for this! I soaked the shirt in white vinegar--because it helps set the dye colour in the fabric--followed by a series of hot and cold rinses. I did the rinses until I was getting little to no colour bleed in the water I was wringing out of the shirt. After that, I put it in the washing machine for a run on the delicate cycle with cold water the whole way through. Then I hung it on my drying rack to dry, and just in case of extra colour bleeding, I draped one of my 'this is either a rag or it's being tossed' towels on the rack under the shirt. Again, wear gloves for the soaking and rinsing process; the dye can and likely will stain your hands.
I highly recommend this tactic to all of you. So many things these days have those tags about the colours being dyed into the fabric a special way. Pretty sure that none of us want our clothing to leave stains on undergarments and or our skin.
