The World's Greatest Slacks

Feb 28, 2012 09:38

If you all are anything like me, you spend your days wandering aimlessly through the mall in a fog of Cinnabon waftings and despair. Why? Because it's dang-diggity impossible to find a freaking pair of slacks that look nice for work. I don't get it! I mean, I can find jeans I like just fine, but- for whatever reason- work pants and me are not friends. Either the crotch is bagging to my knees or up flat against my cervix. The legs are either so tight that they are creating extra rolls where there aren't any OR the pant legs are so wide that they go out beyond my hip line. Don't even get me started on the tight fabrics with no stretch whatsoever, so when you sit, you are constantly living in fear that your freaking butt seam is going to fly open like a window on a summer day.

Yesterday, I went to Penny's (they had one plus sized suit and 2 pairs of giant-legged-but-simultaneously-crotch-restricting slacks), Macy's ("Sorry, ma'am, we don't have any plus sized suits."), Torrid (land of the 3/4 sleeve blazer-- WHY IS THIS A THING?!), and Lane Bryant (I just. . . you know the problems here, I'm not even going to list them).

Anyway, the point of this post isn't (completely) to whine and complain about the reality of fat suiting and professional wear, but rather to dispense a little gem of happiness upon the fatties of this community.

After laughing with the sales associate at Macy's and saying, "Makes sense that you guys don't carry suits. I mean, fat chicks don't need jobs to pay for all these $80 tshirts you guys sell!" (and the girl was legitimately laughing along with me-- I was not being that crazy awkward customer, I promise!), the associate said they did have some pants, just no blazers.

And that's when it happened.

I found the holy grail- work pants with some stretch! Work pants that fit without being all up in my lady-business! Work pants that aren't 800 feet long and that also go beyond my calf! Holy mother of god. . . it has happened! The brand? INC. I bought two pair: these pintucked ones and these plain ones. Now, I'm going to stalk the Macy's website for more colors and fabulousness, hoping to snatch up as many as possible. Yes, they are kind of pricey, but they are totally worth it--- plus, Macy's has a metric ton of coupons at any given time (I got 25% off with my purchase).

My only beef is that Macy's feels, apparently, that no one needs to see their pants worn with anything other than a tunic. Ridiculous. Whatever. Trust me when I say these pants are awesome--- and that's coming from this 5'4''. 250~, size 20-22, hourglass chick. Go forth! Go forth, fats, and buy these pants so they make many, many more! Use this newly found power of pants wisely, my friends. :)
