Fat necklace?

 Hi fats!

Since I saw Natalie Perkins' Fat Necklace (using an old link from her blog because her actual storefront link to it is down right now), it's been my dream to own a black one, but financially, it's been out of my reach.

My birthday's coming up this weekend, and my lovely amazing friend offered to get one for me.

Which was fabulous, until we ( Read more... )

Yeah, I DEFINITELY don't want to get a 'knock off' design. I want Natalie's original necklace, and I'd never ask someone else to replicate it. I feel bad enough asking for one secondhand, I wouldn't try to go to someone altogether different to make me a replica :-/

I am really sorry that I have caused your friend issues over the necklace. I've been ill this year and did not manage a lot of things well because of it. While I've been very slow with email communication, I honestly thought I'd responded to every email I'd gotten regarding sales so I feel awful about the poor packaging, the broken necklace and ignoring your friend's email. If they want to, please let them know they can email me to let me know their address and I can send them another necklace when I place another order in about a month.

Regarding getting fat necklaces made by other sellers: The design of my fat necklace is my own typography, and as such is protected by my intellectual property. So that means asking another creator to replicate it exactly is not cool. Of course, using another font might be an option so long as the font maker's copyright and usage terms are not broken.

In support of Natalie, I will say that I ordered a necklace, it arrived in a timely fashion (note: Natalie does not always have them in stock, and will sometimes put up "pre order" notices - including the approx. shipping time -in her shop) and not broken.

I wear it all the time, and love it!

Even if there are problems that people have with Natalie, I want the original Fat necklace. Not a knock-off, you know? And I definitely don't want to bring HER design to another artist, and say 'make this for me exactly.' That's both an insult to Natalie, and to the other artist who would feel her own skills devalued.

And yeah, I know she had a problem with things arriving damaged, but as far as I know she changed the way she shipped the necklaces so that no longer happens.

you could buy one of the available colors, sand the surface down a little & repaint it whatever color you want?
just an idea.

I'm thinking about that. Either way her shop isn't going to reopen until midaugust-ish (i think that's what she said.) if i can get one sooner, cool. if not, that's an option. I just want a black one so finding a way to get it black shouldn't be too hard.

I have a black one. I haven't worn it. If you are interested just let me know. It's really nice, I just realized I'm not a big necklace person.

How much did they sell for? I can't remember. Like 25 percent less than that? Does that sound good?

Natalie's sold for $27.95, unless I'm mistaken. But I don't think I am!

With shipping included (if your lj info is right and you live in new yorkish and i live in bostonish) would $25 be fair for the whole shebang?

I ordered one not long ago! Can't wait for it to arrive, but it will probably take a while with her moving and all.

As an FYI OP, Natalie is a member of this community. My dealings with her have always been very pleasant, and she's a total doll to boot. I hope you find the necklace you are looking for.
