I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you last time. That sounds horrible.
On what airline are you flying? It makes a difference.
I can emphasize with your situation. I recently flew for the first time in years and I am a size 30 on the bottom, size 34 on top. I was terrified about not fitting in a seat and being asked to buy a second seat. I also have pink streaks in my hair and stretched ear piercings, so I understand your concerns on that front too. I carefully researched the airline and the specific plane I would be flying. I got a window seat, made sure to dress in my most confidence-inspiring outfit and I took anti-anxiety medication.
However, I was not given any problems about my size or appearance, was given a seatbelt extender cheerfully and discreetly, and did fit in the seat (although uncomfortably) with the armrest down. Luckily I was traveling with my partner so I didn't need to leave the armrest down, but I could have if needed. I flew on US Air and was very happy with the experience, well, as happy as one can be with flying today anyhow.
I can't help you with the packing, LOL. I am a horrible overpacker and could never get away with not checking a bag.
thank you for this. I'm a 26/28 all over and i had a HORRIBLE experience with southwest airlines last year. I'm afraid that I might have to flyy sometime this year and i'm just DREADING it. i'll keep US air in mind. thx again.
