Raincoat help

Nov 06, 2009 11:12

Heya fats! It's time for another outerwear post. I live in a very damp (but not terribly cold) corner of the northwestern US and a good raincoat is necessary for surviving the winter. I have worn this L.L. Bean raincoat for the past two years and it has performed admirably, but it's definitely lacking in the style department. I was very excited to see a waterproof swing coat appear on Lands End, but I'm not sure if it fits.

Based on the size chart I originally ordered a 2X but it was far too large overall so I exchanged it for a 1X. For reference, my measurements are 47-44-55 and I'm 5'11". (The baggy jeans, bandana, and ratty sweatshirt are fairly typical Outfit of the Day Spent Sitting On The Couch Working On My Thesis.)

The coat fits across the shoulders, but the bust is definitely too big.

The back is cute!

The coat could definitely be more fitted right below the shoulders.

Is this how a swing coat is supposed to fit?

Thoughts on the fit? Suggestions for where else to find a non-baggy but waterproof raincoat?
