Hi! How are you? I am fine! I feel like we need to clarify some boundaries today! So here we go!
fatshionista is a fat-positive community.
This means we are positive about our fatness. This also means we do not cotton to the conventional diet talk prevalent in mainstream culture. I don't care if you talk dieting and weight loss all day long outside of your participation in fatshionista. There is a place for people to engage in pro-diet talk; it is called everywhere else. This community is different. You do not do it here.
Diet-related discussions, when they do happen, are expected to take place seasoned with a healthy dose of criticism. You do not have to apologize for weight loss or for personal choices, but it is expected that you think carefully about your language before posting. It is expected that you are capable of speaking thoughtfully about dieting and weight loss in value-free ways. If you cannot comment without saying, "Of course EVERYONE KNOWS that being fat is gross and unhealthy!" (because, no, not everyone does, because, no, it's not universally true) then simply do not comment. Yes, we are fascists who cruelly silence your pro-diet commentary! Yes, we will ban you if it continues!
All of this and more is covered in the community profile page, which, if you listen carefully, you can hear crying out to you pitifully: "Read me! Read me!"
Also, since it's Friday, here's some copypasta:
fatshionista has moderated posting - the guidelines are here. If your post is rejected, it is nothing against you personally, a mod has simply decided it did not meet the posting criteria. Rejected posts will always include an explanation in the notification email LJ sends you. You are also encouraged to email the mods at ljmods at fatshionista dot com with any questions and we will do our best to get back to you once we've had a chance to communicate about your issue.
Deleting posts or comments will get you banned. Do not do it.
