Four Outfits of Summer

Jun 24, 2009 13:44

So, I've made a promise to myself that I'm only going to buy things that I absolutely love, and get rid of everything I don't. Since most of the things I fall madly in love for are dresses (and they make me feel fabulous), those are what I've been buying.

In which I fail at looking joyful in pictures. )

I really love the last outfit. It looks amazing. If I had the dress in the second outfit I would take the hem up slightly and wear it with some fun tights. I have a really sweaty head as well, so most of the time I end up carrying some Oscar Blandi dry shampoo with me and putting a little on throughout the day. It also makes my hair look fuller at the root, so with a little teasing I can have Texas-sized hair. :]

Where do you buy your dry shampoo? I have been trying to find it forever!

They have it at Sephora, but OH GOD THE SMELL (sorry mmmswatches!) I have the Ojon one and it's the worst, but I recall the Oscar Blandi one having the same aggressive baby-powder smell as most brands have; please correct me if I'm wrong. Bumble and Bumble makes one in a shaker that's less aromatic but virtually useless. So far, I've actually had the best success by using Fekkai's fine mist aerosol hairspray at my roots to reinvigorate them. I get the travel size and it lasts forever.

the bumble and bumble smells good and what do you mean by useless?

Well, I bought it in the small bottle. I have very dark blond hair but the MAs insisted I buy it in the white instead of the blond, saying it would be too dark for my hair. I didn't like the smell, but like I said, it didn't reek like the Ojon and others I've tested. The small bottle - not a sample size - got me about 2 uses out of it when I was expecting at least a week or two worth of uses, but ultimately it didn't matter as the product didn't seem to absorb the oil at my roots no matter how much I used. And no matter how vigorously and thoroughly I brushed it out afterwards, the white powder left my roots looking ashy and mismatched. And greasy. Basically my hair looked better before I used it.

Simply my experience though, no knock on you if you dig the Bumble and Bumble. I also hated Dior Show even though it's a cult favorite, and I love Fresh Lemon even though most people think it smells like lemon pledge.

You mean Fresh's Lemon Sugar, correct? I likewise love that shit, though it drives people crazy.

Oh yeah, the lemon sugar everything. I don't like the perfume as much as the original sugar, but I use the shower gel daily, and I love the lip gloss that has that scent. I used to use the body lotion, but I wasn't crazy about the texture so I switched to the Rice lotion. OMG. Smells divine.

weird. i guess it is just a matter of what works with each person's hair. that stuff makes my hair look awesome when it looks crappy/sweaty/gross and i wish i could afford to use it all the time.

and i did not like dior show either. hahaah. lancome for the win.

I get the Oscar Blandi at Ulta. It has a nice lemony scent. I like it and when I use it my boyfriend likes to smell my head, lol.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely be wearing some fun tights once winter rolls around (right now, it's a bit too hot for it). Also, I'll look into the dry shampoo, that could help me so much.
