Reunion Woes: Report

After all the help you gave me, you ladies deserve to find out how my reunion went this weekend. My husband and I got up nice and early to go the open house. I wore my hot vintage dress, toned down with a denim jacket (it was chilly) and my man wore his hot new jeans and blazer. Sexy! We got MacD's and ate it on the bus on the way to the school.
The mean girls.... )

You looked fabulous in that dress and I love that you gave us a follow-up. Some posts keep me wondering, "Did that outfit work? How did it go?" and I'm always happy to hear the end result.

I think the dynamics of things like families, school cliques / groups, etc. stay pretty solid, no matter how much an individual may be different and change in another setting. Someone told me a story of a woman who was an independent career gal, a powerful force as a mother and as a wife, yet her husband was always amazed at how she fell back / was drawn back into the role of the tag-a-long youngest daughter always playing catch-up at any of her family's holiday gatherings. I know that my high school reunion story was nothing I didn't expect -- the same groups re-formed, the same cattiness or friendliness or exclusivity happened -- and I just watched it all from the somewhat safer distance of knowing that I felt different inside (although I most likely seemed the same on the outside) and I figured some of those people had the same experience. I think it is awesome that your husband and friend were with you and you got a good story out of it.
