Precisely my first thought. She was initially being paid to lead and teach students. She should have looked closely at each page. It's her fault just as much as the cruel student. Ridiculous.
in my yearbook, the year before i graduated, they were allowed on the senior sign page to write and doodle and whatever. some stuff got whited out (anarchy symbols, pot leaves, peace signs). but then the teachers got afraid of other things happening in there. so they wouldn't allow us to do anything. i signed my name with a smiley face, and it got whited out. the most annoying thing about the white out, was that signing over it was a bitch. SO MANY THINGS were whited out. like, football numbers. etc.
that was a graduating class class of around 300. so. the teachers? they CAN look at it. it is their job. this teacher should have been doing that job. those are horrible and cruel names to call people, and now they're in their memory book forever.
my heart hurts sooo badly for this young girl. i hope the school will be paying for the psychological abuse that she's gonna have to overcome.
it might have been a huge freshman class, but the teacher is still responsible. even if 1,000 kids signed that page. If she approved the collage, then SHE should have inspected each letter written and personally turned it in to the printer herself.
