Glam accessories: help me choose!

I'm going to a fancy-pants holiday dance this Saturday, and I have the dress already--it's an igigi item from three years ago, no longer available, basically it's a sleeveless, flowy, floor-length job, burgundy stretch satin with a rhinestone clasp pinning the decollete Marilyn neckline even lower down to the empire waist.

let me interrupt myself by saying I HAVE NO PICTURES FOR ANY OF THIS. I'm sorry, I'm really bad with getting pictures. Hopefully my descriptions will be enough to help.

Thankfully I have a bra that works with the neckline. I even have shoes (strappy gold sandals). yesterday I even went and bought a new MAC lipstick (a cranberry color) for the event. What I can't decide is how to accessorize. I have a few items/approaches under consideration...

- I have a set of very nice, rather ornate jewelry, amethyst and ruby set in gold with some cubic zirconia, I'm guessing. The necklace is almost 1/2 inch wide throughout, can be adjusted to be a choker length or slightly longer. There are some big-gish earrings, and a bracelet, and a cocktail ring to match.
- a deep burgundy feather boa, several shades darker than the dress, but it looks good against the color.
- making a fascinator out of some of the feathers from the boa, a bit of black netting, a few rhinestones, and a small barrette.

I REALLY want to wear the jewelry, because I have never yet, in three years of owning it (like the dress!). But I don't know how much of the jewelry to wear; all of it seems like too much. And I really like the idea of the fascinator, but I think if I wear it, even something small, then I can't wear any jewelry.

Damn, I wish I had a camera. Lacking any specific outfits to discuss in this case, does anyone have any thoughts on accessorizing with formal outfits?
