Post-Valentines Big-Girl LoveMusik Appreciation Day

Feb 15, 2008 13:20

Okay, guys - I'm in the mood for some musical big girl love, and while I know some of these are scattered around the tags (I was digging) there is no one big post. What are your favorite size-embracing songs/videos? What would be on the Fatshionista mix tape?

Queen - Fat Bottomed Girls
(The gold standard!)

Mika - Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)
(Probably my favorite video of the bunch, at least so far as size positivity goes - all kinds of shapes and sizes, and it's not just the dolled-up dancers, but the people on the street, too.)

Lo-Rider - Skinny
(We've all seen it, but it's still fun.)

Poison - Unskinny Bop (Shut up. I like it. The eighties weren't that bad.)

AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie (Shut up. Mullets rule (in the appropriate hair-metal context.))

Brownie McGhee - Big Legged Woman
(The link is to a Jerry Lee Lewis cover of it, playing guitar to a belly-dancer. It's too odd to be missed.)

The Smiths - Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others
The Gossip - Jealous Girls
(Maybe not the most explicitly size-positive songs, they seem to fit in my head)

Sir Mix-a-Lot - Baby Got Back
(Yes, I totally just went there.)

Otis Redding has one called "Fat Gal," that I like, but could not find a sample of. Alas! So, fatshionistas - what songs are on your fat love mix? What ones should everybody else know about?

music, fat girl love
