Peaches and Sanctuarie?

I am going to a formal evening wedding at the end of the month. The bride has amazing fashion sense. So something special is in order. Unless I want to wear blue jeans, I have to get a new dress, or at least a long velvet skirt ( Read more... )

I would go with Sanctuarie, out of the two... I dunno, just personal tastes, but the stuff from Peaches strikes me as, er, tent-like :F I gasped at the military jacket, because at first it caught my eye, but then the more I looked the more I realized how poorly it fit.

She just seems to subscribe to the cover-your-curves concept of fat fashion o.-

Actually, I think that's just the way the pictures are photographed. Many of the dresses seem to be constructed in a way that's good for my body type. In any case, I found something elsewhere.

It looks like your fashion taste may be similar to a lot of the clothes I've seen at Go Figure on Clement Street in San Francisco. From your User Info it seems you are in the Bay Area. You may want to call them and see if they have one or both of those brands so that you can feel the material. Or go and see what else they may carry.

I'll have to check that place out! Maybe those of us in the Bay Area can plan a meetup and field trip sometime.

This is personal taste but I don't go for velvet in August, even if the weather allows for it. It is a more toasty fabric to me.
Again, since you are in the Bay area, you might want to look at Peg Lutz http://www.plus-size.com/CyberStore/index.php
They are not cheap but they make really pretty dresses that fit your description and they have a store near you. Good luck!

I used Peggy Lutz for a bridesmaid dress, wow, almost 9 years ago! Very pretty, almost custom made if you go there in person.

LYP runs large, but is otherwise good quality with good fabrics. Stuff is very long, so let them know your height as well.

Thanks, that's useful to know.

I wonder if she's related to me -- I have rafts full of Lutz cousins.

Her stuff is really gorgeous, but way above my budget. But the velvet!

I love, Love Your Peaches. Although it's a bit pricey, items will last and last! Sanctuarie is not as well constructed and uses less expensive fabrics. I usually wear a 5x and can fit into 4x in most of the peaches line, so it runs a bit big. Plus Janelle is a total sweetheart. I'm also biased because I'm on her website as well, but even if I wasn't, I'm a lyp fan all the way.

The stuff is gorgeous, but the only two colors of velvet she had were silver and black. Sigh.

I found something elsewhere, but I'll be going back to LYP for a velvet skirt sometime for sure.
