Everyday Outfits + A Fancy-Schmancy Get-Up

Last week, I went to the circus and I was determined to look as un-clownlike as possible.

-- Cropped, pinstriped Lane Bryant pants
-- Gauzy shirt from Lane Bryant
-- Mega-old sweater
-- Rebel shoes from Zappos

I was happy for the layers because the day turned warm.

The shirt has a ton of colors in it, plus some fun silver.

I felt so tall in this outfit. Maybe I should hem ALL my pants to just below my knees!

I got a little nutty with the accessories -- gosh, how unlike me! -- so it was inevitable that these rhinestones would find their way up into my ponytail.

These black beads never fail to make me smile.

And how did I ever survive without these silver shoes?

On Friday, I tried out a skirt I had stopped myself from buying the first time I saw it and only bought the second time I saw it because I loved the colors just that much. But in the dressing room, I remember fretting over the uneven hem and lightweight layers and side gather...I worried it would look like part of the skirt had gotten rucked up in the waistband of my underwear.

I was right. :::sigh:::

-- Rucked-up (not really) skirt from Burlington Coat Factory
-- Yellow polo from a friend
-- Green Lilly cardigan from a thriftstore

Blech.

The rearview is so much better than the front. I think I'm going to do a bit of hemming and even out these ridiculous layers.

Jewelry is happy-making.

Cute and comfy shoes (from Payless) are happy-making, too!

While my boyfriend attended wikkid_smaht's wedding rehearsal, I tooled my bicyle around town, hitting up church rummage sales and neighborhood tag sales for jewelry.

-- White short-sleeved cardigan...from the Clothing Swap? I've lost track!
-- Spaghetti-strapped tank dress thingie from LB a long time ago (I think it was sold as a nightgown)
-- Vera Bradley purselet scored at a thrift store
-- My new Payless sneaks

For wikkid_smaht's wedding, I wanted to be comfortable and ready to dance.

-- Fashion Bug dress via ivylatinalady...this dress is heaven to wear
-- Gold Payless flats that I completely forgot I was wearing

Seriously, these shoes (which have no support whatsoever) are like wearing slippers.

I found these earrings and necklace as a set at Tello's and it was love at first sight.

The night turned chilly, so I was happy to have this boucle jacket -- a Fat Girl Flea find from last year -- on hand to snuggle up in.

It was so nice having a dressier top layer to bring with me.

I had such fun at the wedding. Happy brides, excellent conversations, great food.

Today, I dressed for the steadily warming weather.

(Edited to include outfit details because I completely spaced on them last night.)
-- Little sky blue top from Walmart for a dollar (!) last year in the clearance rack; the stamped tag says, "Secret Treasures Sleepwear," but I think it makes for an excellent warm weather layer
-- Donald J. Pliner sneakers via a consignment store
-- The sundress is a skirt I bought at Sears last year and always had to keep hitching up because it was so long, so this year I decided it was a sundress. I may end up tacking on simple straps so I can wear it without a shrug, but then there wouldn't be much waist/torso definition to it at all, so, maybe not (and I don't want the fuss of a belt and my first-grader sewing skills don't extend to helping that waist!). It hangs longer in back than in front, but I think I'm okay with that. It was incredibly comfortable all day and everyone complimented me on how "spring-y" I looked. :)

Even though I've been avoiding the dreaded chub rub with applications of powdery deodorant, today I wore a pair of bike shorts just in case a stiff breeze started up!

Why, hello little red sneakers.

Jewelry craziness. I love it!
