The sad thing is, I don't think this is confined to college campuses. It just looks that way on Facebook because it's not likely that someone not in high school or college would have a Facebook. I wouldn't be surprised if a search for "fat" here on LJ turned up similar things (sorry, I'm too scared to look myself, my mood is bad enough as it is right now). Personally, I think you're 100% correct that groups like the one you linked should be included in policies against attacking specific people/groups. Unfortunately, though, I also think that weight discrimination is the only/one of the only forms of discrimination still widely accepted in society. Obviously racism and sexism and the like exist, but if we were to take that lovely list of rules in the link you posted and substitute a specific race, religion, etc. for "fat," I'd like to think that the membership list would be much shorter and that the Facebook maintainers would have come down on the group ASAP. That's because society has declared racism, sexism, etc. to be unacceptable. I haven't seen many signs of that happening with fatphobia, though.

Sorry if that's a bit rambly or doesn't make a lot of sense...it's getting close to my bedtime here and I'm drugged to the gills with cough syrup and sinus medications (darned cold...)

I don't even have to search, unless it's been removed there's a "fat rejection" community on here.

That's sad. I seem to remember a bunch of anti-fat groups from when I first joined LJ, but I haven't had the courage to look since.
