knit book I stumbled across...

Howdy folks,

I came across this book while browsing my local feminist bookstore (called Amazon for decades before amazon.com was around, incidentally):

Big Girl Knits 25 fun, funky designs in a range up to 55" bust (~4x?). Some designs aren't my favorite, but the sizing info really helps.
ETA: they have a website, too: biggirlknits.com

Now, I myself am far from being able to knit a sweater yet, but the Big Girl Knits made me want to! I've just assumed that if I was going to knit something I'd just have to scale the patterns up, up, up. This book actually has real patterns for real plus sizes. I found similar books on amazon.com, but after reading the reviews and "looking inside," the above is my clear favorite, based both on available sizes and fashionableness of the sweaters.

I didn't like these so much, based both on available sizing and my personal idea of fashionableness:
Style at Large medium to 2x, patterns seem bulky
Family Circle Easy Plus-Size Knits 50 patterns, only 10 up to 3x, the rest up to 2x.

This one doesn't have any reviews or look inside features, so no judgement on my part, but there are only 6 designs:
Plus size fashions to knit

I think if you're an adept knitter, or OK at translating math into knits, all patterns can be adjusted up to size...at least that's what my adept knitting sister said. I'm not there yet, so this selection of books is great, even just to know they're out there!
