I might actually give 'Young Adult' a chance now since I saw it on Netflix and your review makes it sound not awful. Though I cringe any time I hear Diablo Cody's name, originating from when I read her memoir Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper

I think remaking Evil Dead makes some sense when you think about what Bruce Campbell went through to do the stunts in "Evil Dead 2". He looks like he goes through quite a bit in the movie, but it's when you watch the "making of" featurettes that you see just how much of it was real. Sure the plates he smashes over his head aren't real, but he does grab his own hair and make himself do a forward flip during that scene. Also, the bit where he crashes the car might not have been a real car crash, but they did use a cord to rapidly pull him through the car windscreen

I couldn't finish watching 'Drag Me to Hell' because of my virulent dislike of Justin Long. He just ruins anything he's in to me. He's such a horrible actor I always see him as Justin Long, no matter what. Which is a bummer as I wanted to like that movie. Or at least finish watching it.
Haha, that would have been funny!
Oh wait, did Diablo Cody write 'Jennifer's Body'? It's not a good movie, but Megan Fox makes it worth seeing. She has great comedic timing. People give her a bad rap, but she's not bad. It really isn't a good movie though.
Never saw 'Up in the Air'. Will read your review, thanks!!!!
I would highly recommend Up in the Air. It just so spot-on for the economy of the last few years.
I liked Young Adult but I found something lacking in it. i can't put my finger on it exactly. Charlize Theron's performance was spot on, but the script needed something extra that I felt it just didn't have, and that Juno really had. Maybe it was heart, IDK.
The united States of Tara was entertaining in season 1 but got to be worse and worse in seasons 2 and 3.
Thanks fo the review,I just happened to come across Young Adult yesterday but I wasn't really convinced!
Now I think I'll give it a try! As for the second movie, I hate Kristen so much, that I don't think I can watch it...Perhaps in the faaar far future...
I wouldn't recommend the second one. Saying that it's Kristen Stewart's best performance isn't saying much. The effects shots are lovely, but to be quite frank, asides from some ideas surrounding the evil queen, that's about all the film has to offer.
Young Adult was a really nice surprise. I'll be interested to hear what you think of it. :)
I just saw Young Adult too this week mainly because there was literally NOTHING else that appealed to me on Netfix. I absolutely LOATHED Juno and was scared to watch this for a long time because I have always assumed my hated was because of how Ellen Page was directed. I have now concluded that it's Ellen Page I can't stand, after watching her in a couple of other movies. I enjoyed this movie but I certainly wouldn't rank it among my top favorites. It was decent enough to pass the time and Charlize Theron delivered, as always. She actually humanized her, especially towards the end, to give her depth beyond the selfish, pathetic, self absorbed character she is through most of the film.
Yeah, but Charlize Theron is still playing a horrible horrible person right at the end. I loved the bit where that woman says essentially "screw all the people around here, you have a much better life in the big city" before finally pleading "take me with you!" After all that, Charlize Theron is still blunt and unsympathetic enough to say "you fit in right here" as in, the place they'd just agreed was a lifeless dead end for pathetic people. That was just so cruel, but heck, that's her character. I really liked how they didn't try to make her become a nice person in the end. After a moment of exposed vulnerability it's not long before she's back to being horrible again. - Loved it. ;)
*END OF SPOILERS*
And yeah, I don't think Ellen Page is that great. She's alright. It's possible that she just hasn't had a role that really suits her just yet. Though I will say, she's probably one of the main things that put me off checking out the movie "Super".
