Do you own a laptop?

I want to buy one so tell me about yours. Why does it rock/suck? Does it have burner? What did you name it?I want a macbook partly because I want software that can edit Quicktime files but mainly because I spent too much time on the apple website ( Read more... )

Unless you can't live without it, do NOT get a burner for your laptop. It'll just shorten the laptop's lifespan =/
Once the burner dies, you have this...dead thingy in your laptop.

...

Whereas for desktops you can just get a techno whiz friend to open up your CPU and install a new burner.

I have an awesome Tablet PC from Gateway ('s not necessarily the best brand, just happens to be the only one that has all the features I want) I equipped it with extra batteries so it theoretically could last up to 8 hours without charging. If I play music/video files, the battery goes down faster.

I abused my laptop like crazy (dropped it, smashed it into walls/doors, etc.) and it's pretty hardy. I also got four years' accidental damage protection and so I keep on sending it for repairs X-D

Last incident...I spilled soup on it and irreversibly fried my hard drive (thankfully I was able to save 80% of my files). So am sending it again and they'll replace my hard drive with a new one at no charge X-D

Ahahahahahhahaha...I must be their worst customer EVARR lololol.

Oh yeah...basically the more powerful your laptop is (and the more battery life, etc.), the heavier it's going to be. You just need to figure out what you prize more.

I just brought my laptop everywhere with me in a backpack (a sidebag/laptop bag would strain one shoulder too much)

Actually I've found that one shoulder bags are better. I put it on the bony edge of my shoulder so I don't strain my shoulder. And if it gets too much I can just tuck it under my arm to take the weight off. I think that's the most useful thing I've learnt in my 13 years of schooling, that and how to function with no/little sleep.

Hm, for me when one-shoulder bags get too heavy I hug it to my chest.

Back in my home country I used to have a driver that carry my schoolbag for me D:
(I didn't ask, he automatically does it. He also opens and closes car doors for me. The man gets an A++ for currying favors lol X-D)

So the burner will kill the laptop? I guess I could live without a burner. And what's the average battery life of laptops?

Lol, I presume that's what I'll be like with my laptop.

I might do the fake memory thing when I'm not suffering from sleep deprivation I think of something good.

Yea I read your plotpanda. It's so awesome, I hope you write it. In fact why doesn't such a story already exist?

Well not exactly _kill_ the laptop, but...you know how you can hear this strong hum and vibration when you burn a CD/DVD? And they get louder and stronger if you burn it at a higher speed?
The vibration's going to contribute to your laptop's shorter lifespan =/

Also, it will cause your laptop to heat up. And heat + laptop = disaster. You need to buy an extra fan to put underneath your laptop if you're going to use it for long periods at home.

Average battery life...I think is 3-4 hours maximum? Theoretically, that is. But if you play music/video, the laptop battery will be exhausted within 1+ hour.

'k, will be waiting for it ;-)

Well I already have titles for the first five years. The fic will be posted at dracolives (Yay! A use for the awesome name at last!)
Well, a BWL!Neville will be far easier to write, for one, because it's an easier & more believable "what-if" premise...
Also because Draco was born in June. But I have an answer to that! He's not necessarily the child of the prophesy, but Voldie has his reasons to be at Malfoy Manor that fateful Halloween day...

*cues foreboding music*

I love H/D AU fics! That reminds me, what's happening with your 'Dragon Dreams' arc?
