Dear Friends List,
I got my first online bank account only in 2003. But already I have three and the number of important passwords that I have to remember has gone up to about a dozen. Also, security regulations invariably mean that I have to change these passwords periodically. I need a password manager/vault of some kind so that I can just store my passwords in that software and refer to it whenever I forget them.
However:
1) I'm very wary of applications that promise to synchronize all your passwords with the websites that they're needed on. I DON'T like this feature.
2) I DON'T want to store my passwords online somewhere. I would think that password thieves would at such an online repository first rather than hack into my computer for 1 person's passwords.
3) I DON'T want my password application to periodically 'check in' with the mothership or anything like that. That kind of behaviour makes me uneasy.
So, keeping all this in mind, which password manager/vault application should I get? Reliable freeware is preferred of course.
