I made a piece of toast just before leaving for work at 6:15am this morning, and ran out the door, down to the first bus stop. I took a bite and enjoyed the toasty aroma, and savored the buttery texture in my mouth. Then I swallowed.
Yeee-Owwwwwwwwww!
Imagine the feeling of wood splinters and ground glass shards going down your throat and you get the idea.
Then I told myself, "That's what you get, idiot! There was a reason the doctor said to eat soft foods."

I've found something else that I may have to add to the list of things to give up temporarily...my XM radio 70's channel. I listen to these songs and am always compelled to sing along, but I CAN'T. Unfortunately it hurts too badly and is detrimental to my throat's healing process. So I have to keep quiet (ok maybe hum a little) until I'm all healed up. Jeez!

This is the third day i have been trying to do my job. I am very thankful that my bosses have been very understanding of my condition. We sort of worked out an arrangement. I do my regular talking on the phone until I cannot talk or it becomes painful, usually around 2pm) and at that point I am taken off the phones and given paperwork to do. So far it has worked out pretty well. I haven't even got any jealousy vibes from my co-workers. They are more concerned about how I'm doing. Or joking about it.
Male co-worker:"Hey, how are you doing over there?"
Me: (In a croaking whisper) "I'm about done in."
Male Co-worker: (laughing) "What?"
Me: (Croaking more) "I said, I'm about done in!"
Male Co-worker: (Laughing harder) "What? I can't hear you!
A chocolate brown middle finger sneaks up over the edge of his cube...
..And so it goes...

Well I've had my first taste of Chai. The verdict: It's pretty damn good! The kind I got doesn't need milk (at least not taste wise) and has a great flavor. Perhaps I CAN get used to this. It won't truly replace my coffee, but it is warm, flavorful, smooth and soothing to my sore throat. It's not cheap however, so I may have to go to Costco and try to find it. I want to offer up a big Thank You to
Incognita and
Purplebbw who recommended this drink to me!
