My singing voice has finally come back! After several vocal exercise suggestions from
spiralflames and a little time, my throat has healed and my vocal cords have gotten back to where they need to be. Say goodbye to "breathy" singing! Say goodbye to cracking in the middle of a song! Say goodbye to not being able to "nail" my notes. By God's grace I am HEALED!
To celebrate, I just ordered a custom disk of new songs that I want to perform. I'm really hoping it arrives before the 31st, our Karaoke night. There is a song, "Bad is Bad" by Huey Lewis and the News, that I want to sing, and I may do "Pride and Joy" by Stevie Ray Vaughn. I love getting new stuff to sing that is unique, because most K-jocks don't carry this stuff. Nobody likes the same old same old, and I really enjoy hearing the voices of the crowd change when the title of a song that has never been done comes up on the screen. Performing it well, and having the crowd get into it is even better!
T says I should be in community theater because of my singing ability. I wish I had the time. I've found that I love the roar of the crowd, and being on stage. While I'm not as jaded as Bob Segar singing "Turn the Page", when I sing in front of a group of people, I get such a rush of energy inside of me, which powers me to do even better by giving to the people I am singing to. That exchange of power between singer and audience is such a special thing. It is palpable, and it gives me such a RUSH that I feel like the man in the song
Out there in the spotlight
You're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body
Like the music that you play
Damn! Just thinking about singing again energizes me! I can't wait til the 31st!
