Did my first day with the Conservation Volunteers yesterday. We build a fence. It was a beautiful and awesome fence. Eventually, the fence will keep a bunch of Highland Cows on a meadow. This is conservation because grazing is good for diversity on meadowlands, without a nice strong grazing pressure the ground level plants quickly get shaded out by scrub and brush, and a lot of species of animals and plant rely on grazers to create appropriate microhabitats. I'm booked to go back again next week
