I doubt many of you know that today is the day that this man's fate will be decided. Man, some of the comments on that page are crazy... like the guy who said "I find it impossible to kill anything, but I could kill this man." Well then, clearly you *COULD* kill someone, you jackass! I see they posted my comment "Inasmuch as some of you say "I couldn't kill anyone, but..." you reveal that you clearly could, and would, kill someone. Also, realize that he was doing his duty by his faith and what he believed in. That is more than many people in our own country can say." I believe that heartily. The sad fact is that our society is completely unbalanced. The two extremes we see in our culture (I use that word sparingly to describe modern Western lifestyle) is those who are so deeply dependant on thier faith that they rival this man's religious fervor & zeal, or they have no spine or backbone to stand for what they claim to believe in. To quote a song I used to love when I was a religious zealot: "The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today Is christians who acknowledge jesus with their lips, then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable." To be honest, I don't know what the balance should be between zeal & fervor, and subtlety & tact, and I doubt I'm the right person to decide. But I believe one needs to be found. Hmm.
