In which our !hero returns from a long voyage
Or: how to up end your life into more chaos than a toddler's playroom in one easy step.
And that step is: leave academia and return to the real world. The no longer being able to set my own schedule thing? the no longer having summers off thing? the loss of academic library thing? bite. The getting to make a real, concrete, observable contribution thing? the no longer having to deal with entitled students and their prick, lawsuit-happy parents thing? the doubling of the salary thing? Very much NOT bite.
Anyway, now that I'm settled (mostly - I still have to close on the new house and move) I've decided to start writing again. And maybe doing some other fannish things, but mostly writing. I'm so rusty there's flakes coming off, so it'll be slow going. I've gotten a whole two paragraphs into a Supernatural/Fallen crossover.
