So I bought Season Five of SGA!  And I remember feeling generally dissatisfied at the end of the season to begin with, so I'm doing a rewatch, and you lucky flist that you are get to here my thoughts on the subject!! :)

Season Five SGA Rewatch!!!
SEARCH AND RESCUE

In retrospect this is one of my favourite season five episodes. I think part of the reason is because it’s part of the Michael/hybrid arch. What season five was missing (imo) was an over-riding arch. It meant the end had less impact.

Anywho. The opening scene is still mega weird, the dreaming thing, but the more I watch it the less it jars me. The cool zooming across the galazy from Rodney to Michael shot a few moments later totally makes up for it though!!

Michael as ever, is MADE OF WIN. Definitely my favourite ‘bad’ character.   Although I remember feeling in the beginning they did the virus story line to death, now that they moved on from that Michael is a brilliant villain as its easy to empathise, but also kind of like him.

What I loved about this episode most was the character moments. Starting with Lorne who we get to see a little bit more of his character than we have in the past. My favourite aspect of character moments in this episode though is Ronon getting fed up with Sheppard and his ‘has to do it all attitude’.

I think the birth scene was good, it wasn’t to cliche or anything and having Rodney deliver it gave it an edge of humour which helped obviously. Also YAY for Caldwell, don’t know why I cheer whenever he or the Daedalus get screen time, just makes me happy. And though I was sad to see Carter go (having finally gotten used to the fact she was in Atlantis) I do like Woolsey as the expedition leader too.

Things to forget:

-         the fact they dropped the shields of the Daedalus, risking everyone on board’s lives to save two men (even if they are the leads). I know SG is all about leaving no man behind but it seems a little too much no?

-          Keller, the little jokes that fall flat and moment with Sheppard and the rest of the team, she just still doesn’t fit for me, especially not as a lead

Summary:

-          CGI shots, Lorne, Caldwell and Michael for the win

-          Thumbs up for Ronon calling Sheppard on his lameness

-          Possible Ickyness of baby being born scene well averted

-          Bye bye Carter = sad. Hello Woolsey = YAY

-          Crazy risking hundreds of off screen characters for two leads

-          Keller at this point still a little irritating

random, sga
