Work of Doctor Who?, H/D Fic Rec and sample of SGA McShep AU
Ok, so revision has taken over my life. I cant watch the tv, read a book or listen to a song without relating it to attitude change, social influence, or theory of mind. I've actually just realised that I haven't left my house for two days and then it was only to go to work.... Tomorrow I'm going to uni to revise I think, or just walk round the corner and buy some red bull or something, anything to prevent me from going stir crazy!
Additionally my revision overloaded brain has just realised that due to the fact that I work until six on a saturday, I'm going to miss the new series of doctor who, like every week.... I dont have any tivo, sky plus or virgin active or anything and bbc iplayer doesnt work on my computer. Thus I'm going to have to result to good ol' VHS....
In my attempt to escape revision, or have something to reward myself with for drudging through my textbooks and notes, I've decided to read a HP fic and finally decided on Not in the Hands of Boys by
fourth_rose. I've wanted to read it for ages, but tend to avoid WIPs like the plague. But I delved into the first chapter and a half a little earlier and am already hooked :) It's Harry/Draco Post DH, EWE. And at the moment I'd recommend it, if anything disastrous happens as I read and I want to rescind my rec I'll be sure to let you know :)
Finally, I've decided that I'm going to finish my SGA McShep AU thats been sitting on my computer, gradually being built on whenever I notice it's still there,
“What? Don’t be ridiculous, that’s not for another-” he glanced at the calendar on the wall (famous physicists through time). Sure enough there it was blocked out in red pen, an entire week with ‘McKay’s Vacation’ scrawled across it. Various people had scribbled smiley faces on it, along with the odd phrase saying; ‘woo hoo’, ‘more coffee for us’ and various other insults to his person. “But-”
“No buts,” Radek said with a smug smile, Rodney glared.
“I’m sure-” he began, but was cut off again.
“Elizabeth will not understand if you rearrange it. She was the one who implemented you’re enforced holiday, she books and organises it every year Rodney, just to make sure that you go.”
Rodney sighed in defeat, he was right, there was no way he was getting out of it.
“It will do you good. Sun, sea, women in small bathing costumes,” he grinned. Rodney nodded in half hearted agreement.
“You’ll-?”
“I’ll make sure everyone is good and that they do not destroy the building whilst you are away,” Radek said. Rodney opened his mouth to speak but Radek beat him to it. “And I will keep an eye on Samantha Carter for you. If it looks like she is doing anything untoward, like say having a life when she should clearly be planning your long and happy future together, I will let you know immediately.”
