Saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3 last night. I love it even though it's completely and utterly flawed. And that it was pretty predictable because I was able to foresee the majority of the "twists" that occurred.

*squees&omgdies* Extremely hot pirates reduce me to a pile of fangirl piddle.

Me and my friends dashed over to the nearest bus stop after school and dashed downtown to the movie theatre to watch the 3:15 showing of the movie. Yes, parts of the movie definitely dragged. I personally thought that it had a ton of great ideas (like Jack's dad, Davy Jones's history, to name a few nonspoilery things), but there was too much in the movie for any of those ideas to really flesh out. And parts of it were kind of contrived even to me (I have a high tolerance for things like that). However, I am SO pleased with the resulting ship...

Erm, it's getting too hard to nix the spoilers, so here's a cut for those of you who HAVEN'T SEEN IT BUT NEED TO! GO NOW!!1111!!

And omg, Orlando Bloom, strangely endearing as the dumb but noble loverboy, doesn't suck in this.

AND JACKLOVE!!!

Pfft. The whole Singapore thing is such a ploy to get into the Asian market. Way to go generalizing Singaporean pirate dudes as unsnarky and just not very smooth in general.

The Calypso/Davy Jones thing was expected, of course, though the scene when the Calypso was "released" from mortal form ranked really high on my weird-o-meter. Millions and millions of special effects dollars and all you can come up with for making a goddess is "make her reaaally big and naked"? Shame on you, Disney.

Here's a momentary pause for my love of Jack <333

Anyone else get really moved when Will stabbed Davy Jones's heart and Jack pulled Elizabeth away as the crew members of the Flying Dutchman cut out Will's heart? By moved I mean worked up and teary-eyed. Even though I predicted it a while before it occurred, it absolutely broke my heart, and I'm not even exactly a Will/Elizabeth shipper (I do like it more than Jack/Elizabeth though). I felt slightly happier by the time they showed Will in the burgundy pirate shirt and got worse during the Will/Elizabeth exchange right before he left the island...  Now I can't stop thinking about what may result from the twist. There's just too much angsty fanfic potential about this. I mean, dude, either someone has to go through Elizabeth to stab Will's heart so he'll die or at some point, he's going to have to deliver her to death as part of his duty. And they can only see each other once every ten years. Each time he sees Elizabeth, she's going to be ten years older and closer to death while he probably won't change at all. And what if she finds someone else (unlikely since this IS a Disney movie)? BUT WHAT IF!?!? I'm so obsessed with this nonbantery, formerly sacharine couple it's almost uncharacteristic.

What else... oh yet, recurring peanut jokes. And how dare they kill off Norrington???

me: attractive guys
