Summary: Everyone in his Yakuza gang looked up to him. He was the boss's favorite pupil, but then in a single night, after he had won so many territorial fights for his gang, he lost everything! Why?
Review: An absolutely gorgeous full color manhua. The pacing and the artwork actually remind me a lot of American comics, even the way it's colored. It's basically about a sub-gang leader rising through the ranks to conquer a city by battling all other gangs for control. He promised to beat 10 gangs, however the boss he's loyal to betrays him. He ends up on the run because of the bounty on all his limbs, and there is only one place where his former boss won't be able to follow him, the City of Darkness.
The action scenes are pretty fast paced, and the characters are two dimensional but I like the plot and I absolutely love the artwork. I can't wait to read more of it. It’s pretty violent and in some ways reminds me a bit of Breaker w/o any cuteness. There’s lots of blood and gore and if you’ve ever read American seinen comics, this is very similar to it. One of the appealing things so far in this series is that despite the murder and mayhem; you don’t see violence on women (yet). It’s implied, but it doesn’t seem like a series that will use rape as a main focus (*cough “Wolf Guy” had ongoing rape for many chapters).
I actually didn’t start reading this until I accepted the TypeSetting position of this project, which in hindsight is a really bad thing to do because this series looks uber difficult to edit. Oh well, I won’t know until I try.
