They had hired mercenaries to help them during the war and now they’ve come back to collect their reward while the country were still picking up their pieces of their broken dreams. By that time, the King has passed away and his heir was still too young to take up on the throne. After hearing the news of the King’s death the mercenaries decided to take over the throne and rule in his place. But there was an obstacle in their way... The Oracle!
Review: I saw this series a couple of months ago on DAUM and fell in love w/ the artwork and so I recommended this one to Easy Going Scans. I’m so ecstatic that they’ve picked up. YAY!
I think if you like “Claymore” art, you’ll probably like the artwork in this series although the plot is not similar in any way. The art is not only gorgeous, but it’s colored really well and looks like anime quality panels.
Paladins are people that can link w/ some sort of supernatural spiritual beast. The only problem is that they are rare beings and they don’t necessarily have to be good people either. After some sort of war, the King passes away and their mercenaries come back and try to take over the country. However, despite their force, the people refuse to respect their leadership because only the Oracle can approve of the king. At the moment, there are no Paladin’s left in the country to protect the throne, and the mercenary leader is also a Paladin. So the mercenaries end up running amok trying various methods to remove the Oracle from their claim to the throne.
I thought it was hilarious that the first chapter starts w/ a foreigner imprisoned waking up to almost getting gang raped. It’s not something you’d see in a series, not to mention in the first chapter. It’s hilarious though. The first 2 chapters are mostly about the background history of the series, so it’s more or less like a really packed prologue. I can’t wait to read more.
The artwork alone should influence anyone to give this series a try. However, the plot is also engaging and action packed.
