Summary: In the Vampire Mercenary Specialized School, "1000 Years Academy," the most unvampire-like vampire at the academy, Al, and the human transfer student, Kei, meet by chance. But what they didn't know was that it was a fate the world depended on.
Review: This series is from the same mangaka as "Kuroshitsuji". While the artwork is great, it's not as gothic detailed as "Kuroshitsuji". I enjoyed this series, but it unfortunately suffers for having such an abrupt ending due to the shortness of its length. Frankly, I hated the ending, but I enjoyed the rest of it well.
Basically, the series revolves around a vampire school where the church are training mixed breed vampires. Al, an unusual vampire that doesn't have a soul weapon per se, leads one of the class groups. Despite not having a weapon, he's cunning and talented enough to facilitate his team's wins. However, things start changing when a unatheletic and sickly human gets transferred into his group.
The pace of the story is a bit too face paced, so events often jump from panel to panel in an unsatisfactory way. From basic students, to suddenly fighting world domination is a large leap w/in a 1 volume. Not to mention, the villains and their true purposes aren't quite detailed. But the artwork is lovely, so plot and pacing can be forgiven to an extent.
The main thing I didn't like about the series was the ending. The mangaka left the hero's survival open ended, but w/ no new information on him years later I can't help but feel disappointed. Other than the ending and bad pacing it's worth a one time read.
