I am so embarrassed right now.

I just found out that my mother has been telling her friends, in graphic detail, the story of my horrible low blood sugar a week or so ago. Mentioning it is one thing, I guess, but the level of detail she goes into over a time I can barely remember but am deeply ashamed of...I can't believe it. Well, I can believe it, because I know the woman, but I stupidly didn't suspect it. I had asked her not to tell all of her friends, I told her it was embarrassing. But this morning she started telling one of them--again, in graphic detail--about that morning.

I jokingly said I had some embarrassing stories about her, too, and she screamed "Fuck you!" really loud. Her friend (who she works with) looked shocked. Especially since her two young children were well within hearing range. And then she went off about how she could tell it if she wanted but how she wouldn't tell this woman. I told her to go ahead and left the room.

The thing that shocked me most, I think, was how quickly she was willing to reveal her true colors in front of her friend. I always assumed they didn't see the bitter, cruel side to her...but judging by the shock on the woman's face, maybe this is the first time she's actually met my mother.
