How much do you love YOUR car?

I got to work earlier than normal yesterday which allowed me to see people coming in to work who I normally don't see. I sat for a moment in my car before going in when I saw the following:

A younger (20 something) woman pulls up in a red Toyota Corolla. It's a pretty unremarkable car - newer version, in good condition, no noticeable window or bumper stickers, no stuffed animals in the back window, and nothing even hanging from the rearview mirror. The only thing setting it apart is that she has a personalized plate, of what appears to be her last name and a VERY popular one, especially in Minnesota at that (think a boy band of brothers who sang MMMM..... Bop). I assume this woman works in our customer service department because I've not really seen her before and because she's getting their just before their last shift start time.

She exits her car slowly. She looks it over before closing the door. She seems sad, but I assume it is because it is a Monday and she has to go in to work. Then, she kisses her hand and touches the car. Seriously. I thought I was seeing things. I was really trying not to stare. Then, as to just reaffirm for me I was not halucinating after shutting the door she stops, kisses her hand again, and puts it on the car. She gave her dang car kisses!!!! I'm thinking -- she must be desperate, right? Maybe there is a munchkin in there I can't see, right? She kissed her car?? She walks away, gets about halfway to the door of the building and looks back longingly at her car and then goes into the building.

Are you serious? I wish I would have been there in time this morning to witness it again. I may have to go early tomorrow just to see if she does it (she parks in the same spot every day.)

I guess, maybe, I could see if she had some very, very expensive car .... and even then I would question it I am sure. Who the hell kisses her car? I wonder if she actually plants her lips on it when she gets home in the safety of her own garage and no one is looking?

I love my car, I do, but I would never, ever in a million years kiss it or even look longingly at it!

Oh the joys of being an uber observant person of this society....
