Ok, I have to share this story with you. I've so far found this to be highly amusing, but some people have told me it's scary... dunno, the jury's still out.
So last night, about 11 PM I received a call (Caller ID shows "Private Number") from what sounds like a young lady who started to meow at me. I figure it's one of my friends trying to mess with me, so I start talking to her, trying to figure out who it is, but no matter what, she won't drop character. Anything that wasn't a "meow" was meant to sound as cat like as possible). So after a few minutes, I figure it's gotta be a prankster, and I end the call. Good laugh, I figure, and go back to playing some WoW.
Until the phone rings again 45 minutes later.
As I'm sure you've assumed, it was our lovely little kitty again. Only this time, I hear giggling in the background. So I give it a little chuckle, just some kids having fun. I started talking to her, and this time, it's nothing but meows. Well, after a bit, I decide it's time for bed, and turn off my phone.
This morning I awake to (as expected) a brand new voicemail. I playback the voicemail, and it's a lovely little tune she meowed for me. So, at this point I laugh at a good prank, and figure it's over with. That was until my phone rings at 11 AM. I'm sure I don't have to tell you who it is, and she's back to her routine of nothing but meows. In disbelief that she has called me again, I laugh about it, and go back to work. My Co-workers at this point look at me like I'm insane, and I share the whole story with them.
Well, wouldn't you know, about 90 minutes later, on our way back from lunch, my cell phone rings again. I see "Private Number" again on the caller ID and immediately put the cell phone on speaker phone. After a quick hello from me, she begins her routine. (At this point the 3 co-workers I'm with look at me like "wow, he's serious"... even after hearing the voicemail.) Anyway, after a brief barking spell from one of my co-workers, and our standard conversation, I inform her that I am at work, and she really shouldn't be calling me there. She meows in apparent agreement, and the call ends.
So, 6:30 rolls around, and the phone rings again. Now in my carpool on the way home from work, I again put the cell phone on speaker for everyone's enjoyment. Nothing really eventful happens, other than a few more laughs, however I feel I should note at this point that all 5 people who heard these conversations, as well as the people who heard the voicemail, are all in agreement that our caller is indeed female.
Then 10:00 rolls around... I'm on the phone with a friend from work, telling her this very story, when I see an incoming call from "Private Number". Not really willing to give up my conversation with a friend for a bunch of meows, I let her go to voicemail. My friend finds this amusing (and is pleased to hear I'm choosing her over cat-girl), and recommends that I should just ask if I know her at all, as I was back under the presumption that someone I know must be messing with me.
So, sure enough 11 rolls around, and the phone rings. Actually looking forward to this call (since at this point, I had deemed it my mission in life to figure out who this person is =P), I start talking to her. So right away I ask her if I know her or not, and she gives a cattish no. At this point, I notice the giggler has returned, and can be heard very clearly now. Commenting on this, the friend suddenly blurts out an "Ooops", and we all get a laugh out of it. So after some poking and prodding, I finally got her to say something other than cat sounds... In a somewhat heavy accent, "You Speak Spanish?" Informing her that I do not, she immediately returns to meows. (Apparently, if I get a translator, we may find out who she is, although she seems to have no problems understanding me) From there, I go on to inform her that I have a few things I need to get done, and will have to go to bed afterwards. She meows in agreement, and she and her friend go giggling off.
.... god, I wish I had that much free time
