So, I watched Collateral for the first time last night. I hadn't seen it before since it really didn't interest me, but there was a lack of choice and I was bored. So I found myself thinking, "Well, Tom Cruise may not be my favorite actor, but he usually does pretty good movies, and Jamie Fox was nominated for an Oscar for Supporting Role... why not?"
So, I'm watching the movie, and it's pretty much what I expected, but something was bugging me. Jamie Fox was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for this movie.... but... he's the main character. The entire movie is about him and how he handles this fucked up situation, and ends up being the hero in the end. So how the fuck is this is a supporting role? I mean, I can understand why they would have Cruise be the headline name, as he'll draw people to watch, but when it comes to awards, shouldn't he be nominated for the actual role?
