She ties him up in little knots of redirected loyalties, making a quick ladder that she climbs with pointed

until he shatters.

Until he falls.

Does he honestly expect someone to be there to catch him?

Of course he does, Kyouya thinks bitterly. This is Tamaki, and he's never anything but honest.

Someone is always there for him, and someone always will be. Unfortunately for Kyouya, it usually ends up being the same person every time.

---

Come with me, she says, all beckoning claws, and he follows, torn up by something that looks suspiciously like guilt.

Kyouya wants to say She's a cold-hearted bitch, but Tamaki's always been too chivalrous and too stubborn to fall for something like that. Instead, it's a typed note on his breakfast chair, smaller than a playing card, whispering:

Think of who you're leaving Haruhi with.

(He had wanted to say Think of who you're leaving me with but doubted it would have had the same effect.)

Seven words to a lovestruck heart and they always did say it was lucky.

---

The wind whips his hair and he clenches his fist, a message crumpled in his palm.

He smiles at the French beauty although he doesn't really understand her motives; he wants to believe something innocent like desire or maybe even obsession is behind this.

Kyouya's voice in his mind drawls, She just wants your money.

A leap and he's out on faith, leading him to the arms of someone he, for once, can't figure out.

(Unlike Kyouya.)

Seven waterlogged words disintegrate before they ever reach the bottom.

---

He watches them from a window, playing games in the garden and he does not understand how he gets dragged into the midst of all these complications.

He pushes his glasses farther up the bridge of his nose as he considers whether to charge Tamaki for breaking his heart.

(But that only ever worked on the poor ones, anyway.)

The worst part? He knows he'd pay.

---

Come with me, she had said and he wonders if it would have been better to just let him go.

But no, it's fine, his brain replies. In a little way, he's still a part of Tamaki's life.

Mother! Tamaki calls, and he smiles before following after.
