149 - 2012 in review
I have to admit I was shocked when I was adding up how many icons I had made over the past year. I have had to cut back on the time I spend iconning due to school and work, but somehow I managed to post almost 1000 icons in the past twelve months!
Here are the highlights of 2012:
JANUARY (185 posted)
January I really started to experiment with different techniques for coloring. Most of what was posted I had made in the previous months, but there are still some of my favorite icons that I've made, in specific #4. I also started to branch out with more complexity to my icons.
FEBRUARY (60 posted)
February was still figuring out how to make the colors work for me. The rainbow set with Han I really experimented in manipulating colors to suit what I wanted. Also did a Vampire Diaries set where I realized that show is the worst to color for me! I don't know how people work with those caps. There were a few icons that I really liked, but no standouts.

I made a lot of icons in March. This is one of my favorite months. So many icons that I am really happy with were made in March. The Downton Abbey icons are some of my all-time favorites. I started using gradients for coloring and lighting all the time and experimenting with textures more.

One of my most successful sets at character20n20 was the Ringer set. That was a set that had so many icons that I absolutely adored! I posted a large icon post with icontest entries as well and there were a lot of icons that I still love. 2-4 are probably my best icons to date.

May was a big month! Quite a few standouts as well. I was mainly trying to hone my skills, not experimenting as much, but taking time to improve at the stuff that I already knew how to do.

June and July are slow months. I was really busy with my co-op job and summer classes, so icon time was greatly reduced. But even with that this is one of the top sets I have submitted to character20n20. The most well received for sure!

Started experimenting again with coloring techniques. Some hit and miss in this batch. I blame my busy rl ;)

THEICONQUEST!!! You can tell this comm really inspired me to push myself and it really inspired my icon muse. I was pumping out the icons in August! Even with the large quantity I was really trying to produce quality icons, so there are a lot of favorites from this month. And my Katniss set is probably my all time favorite 20in20 set I have made.

I started watching Fringe in September so that is the subject of the month. I was trying to find my footing with the caps, what the best way of coloring was, etc.

Natural coloring was definitely the thing for October! Still vibrant, but the wild colors are almost nonexistent in the two sets for the month.

Another slow month. I really love this set. Sherlock is so good and I love working with the caps!

December was a good month for icons! I really enjoyed making every icon, which is the reason I do what I do. It's been a great year and I am so grateful for every comment and all the new watchers that have joined over the past year. Happy New Year!
