Oh, my God, these are so beautiful! I used the word "primordial" before and oh, man, pics Two, Three and Eight fit that description like nobody's business. They're like something out of a movie. And seriously, I was expecting to see dinosaur footprints in the mud. Gorgeous! And absolutely worth the cold, wet feet. XD
And Seven, with the sun's rays streaming past the tree? FREAKING AWESOME!!!
ETA: I don't think "sanity" is ever a component of going for the really great shot. Last winter, I spent four hours traipsing around in a bloody ICE STORM with my camera. By the time I went back inside, I was shivering so hard I could barely unzip my coat and my core temperature was probably a good three degrees below normal. D: But I got some great shots, so yeah . . . totally worth it!!
