[There's a short silence at the beginning, like he's trying to think of something to say, before there's a faint "tch" and he begins.]
Well, I'm back. ...Try not to act too excited.
[Sourly. He doesn't even know if anyone actually noticed he was gone... besides Takaya that is. But oh well.]
So what'd I miss?
[He's hoping he's not the only one

[because saying 'that's good' or 'I'm glad' sounds too awkward]

[It's awkward anyway, though. He's not really sure how to talk to her, ever since that one night. Did it change anything or not?]
Reply
[veiled implication is only kind of veiled. But she says it very casually all the same, as casual as she can manage, anyway]

[Yeaaah, definitely questioning that. She makes it sound like there's something wrong with Takaya.]
Reply
[she's hoping that gets across the meaning 'you've always been the voice of reason before and you should still probably do that.' But it's...still pretty vague 8| She doesn't exactly want to rat Takaya out in case someone tunes in or something]

...I'm sure he was fine on his own.

In the end.

Did something happen, then?
[Just a shade more urgency in his voice.]

He had a plan to 'rescue' a few people from their fate. I don't believe he went through with it.
[few is probably an understatement but.]

...Oh.
[The next part is sort of mumbled.]
Tch. Of course it has to happen while I'm gone...
[No, he honestly does not see the correlation between his death and Takaya's mental state. Why would his death affect Takaya's mood 8|?]
Reply
[pause; and yeah, she notices. HMM.]
...You don't think it's related.

[Come on, that's ridiculous.]
He wouldn't do anything that drastic just because of that.
[Er, would he? Even Jin can't tell with him sometimes.]

[the thought's even a little weird to Chidori. Seeing mortality from a comrade like Jin--that would make sense, logically, to put Takaya's mind onto a track RE: death etc. But there was something _off_ about him, too, that night. In his voice.]
Reply
[With Takaya, it wasn't entirely out of the question; if Takaya was in the right mood, one death could lead to, well, many deaths, though usually Jin was around to put a stop to that.]
Reply
[she doesn't care about credit, that she helped calm him down, even in the slightest. She really doesn't care as long as Takaya. Doesn't lose his mind. So she doesn't even think to mention it]
You shouldn't have to worry for now.
Reply
[So nothing to worry about. She could trust Jin to make mostly rational decisions, at least.]
