Not an entirely inaccurate meme, and it has a much stronger sense of style than most I've seen.
Anyway, I've run into a bunch of little ironies the last few weeks, and I figured I should share:
1) Now, I know I've seen people making fun of this before, but I once again saw a bus driving around with the ad on one side: "Heroin Kills - We Can Help." Seriously, do they not know what they are saying? I mean, I could understand slipping up and putting this out there at the start, but this ad has been around for at least a year and a half now - and probably longer. One would think they would catch on - you know, eventually.
2) I saw a commercial on tv for some sort of 'behind-the-scenes' look at "The Hottest New Show of 2007!" While hyperbole is generally to be expected in this sort of thing, the fact of the matter was that I had never even heard of this show - and I was actually watching tv this last year! More false advertising than irony, I suppose, but I was amused by it nonetheless - they really seemed to believe that their show was a sensation.
3) On the other hand, I saw a commercial that was just sad to behold. It was perhaps the worst designed commercial I had ever seen, with terrible transitions, a dull voice-over, lifeless images tossed together besides floating text rendered in the worst font imaginable. It wouldn't have been quite so bad if it hadn't been for one fact: It was advertising a company that designed tv commercials. This was their professional job! And here they were, paying money to demonstrate just how bad at it they could be.
