(no subject)

Hmmm well I just left two photography communities because of their stupid rules, this time my posts were rejected because you're not allowed to post images that you can click on to see them in a larger size!

The only reason I could see for that is that the creator of the community doesn't want anyone to make a comment via flickr instead of via their community.

First you have all the rules about how small the photo has to be, then you have rules about how many kb's they can take up so you go ahead and let people have the best of both worlds by posting photos that fit into the rules but also allow people to see a less compromised version and some mod still sits there and clicks no (presumably whilst performing a Nazi salute)

I've been in this situation before, it seems the people who create these communities are only concerned with making people jump through hoops, photographs should be posted in a format that best suits them, 150kb limit? what decade are we in? likewise for 600 pixels maximum width, it's ridiculous. You get so many pathetic Nazis on here that will complain that your photo has "broken" their friends page layout as if it matters and more importantly as if it's some form or tangible and irreversible damage. For some stupid reason I thought that a wind had blown away all the bullshit elitism and rule junkies and other insincere people from livejournal years ago but it's still full of pathetic bullshitters that seem to get some kind of gratification from enforcing nonsensical rules, I mean who seriously makes rules purely as a measure to prevent people leaving comments outside of the community, people who make communities just to see how many comments they can gather I suppose.

I'm so tempted to make my own community, I just don't think I would be able to promote it to any useful extent.

I would still have rules but they would be a lot more reasonable. Images can be up to 1024 pixels wide before they should be placed behind an LJ cut or better still be clickable for a direct link to the full size version even if that means people might comment on your flickr, pbase et all page and not my beloved community. Multiple images do not have to be behind an LJ cut. People bitching about image size or their friends page being broken will be removed from the community along with all their posts.

Filesize limit is 1mb per image, images larger than this should be linked to instead, you do not have to post images larger than 150kb behind an lj cut with a warning to dial up users!

Blah blah blah, maybe I'm just bitter lol
