It's not like a really hard dish to make, but hey, I made it. One of my goals for the semester is to cook and I've taken my first step with mapo tofu. I love tofu, so it's only natural that I start with a tofu dish. I went to SF Supermarket for the ingredients, but a lot of the ingredients was already at home such as ginger and garlic. I did buy tofu, ground pork, potato starch and chili bean sauce though. Everything costs about 9 bucks, but there are so much potato starch, chili bean sauce and ground pork that I could make mapo tofu for a couple more nights. I just gotta buy the tofu though. eheheh... but here are some pictures. First the ingredients:
then the cooking
and the final product!!!
Only I tasted it, and I thought it was pretty good. I think I might've put too much soy sauce though, but all good. It could be a bit more spicy... or a lot more spicy, but then I'm pretty sure the recipe didn't take into account that mapo tofu is supposed to be spicy since most people are afraid of spicy. Anyways, I'll probably add in some super spicy peppers the nice time I make it. I think I'll make something new every 2 weeks. Come July, I'll have a pretty good range of foods.
