Tomorrow I'm going to History 182 for the first time this quarter, in order to pick up a syllabus and study guide for the exam Monday, which I found out today. I'm becoming a slacker by anyone's definition. What's funny is my grades are still in the low As. I'm starting to wonder whether this school is a joke, academically speaking. I spend way, way more time on rugby every week than I do on classes.
In other news, I have labtime to make my very first hologram on Sunday! It's going to be a single-point diffraction grating shot of a couple of broken shot-glasses. It's like some sort of weird, high-tech photography class with lessons in quantum mechanics and the nature of light thrown in. Powerful lasers and delicate mirrors and lenses-exciting stuff, if you're into holography. Plus, a three-ton stability table. Everything has to be precise to within half a wavelength of light, which is very precise indeed. Basically, you listen for trucks and buses outside and wait for them to go by because the vibrations could ruin the exposure.
In a week or two we will be building our own lasers. Once I know how to do that, you will ALL be at the mercy of my MIGHTY RAY OF SEARING DEATH! DISOBEY ME AND I SHALL SMIGHT THEE FROM THE EARTH WITH MY GIANT LASER!
God, I'm a dork.
