I like trying new food whenever I go shopping. And new restaurants. Ok fine, I like food in general.
So I suggested to my friends that this Friday night, we should go to
Cheeseburger in Paradise because I tried the day before to no avail.
We got there at 7:35 pm, to an impressively packed parking lot. I think every 20-something within five miles was there. We were told the wait would be about 35 minutes but it was closer to 25. Kid got free glow-stick things, you know, the kind where the ends attach to make a loop. I got one for P&J's J.
Unfortunately, the service was awful. Really awful. P ordered a beer, took over ~7 minutes for the waiter to come back to tell him they were out of YuengLing, then P ordered a margarita, that took another, I would another 7 minutes. Chris ordered the fried onion strips appetizer, and when that was cleared away, his fork was taken, I asked the waiter for another fork, which never came, so Chris ate his shrimp with a knife, I'm not sure how. The food in general took about 35-40 minutes, which was mostly burgers. The waiter didn't come back to the table to ask how the food was after serving the main course, which would have been nice so Chris could have asked for a fork again, along with more napkins. The waiter got the bill wrong by forgetting to take the initial beer off the bill. P from P&J refused to give me what I said he owned me, since I was paying with a credit card, because the amount I told him included a slightly below 15% tip and he wanted to give absolutely nothing. Lastly, the waiter took so long in picking up the credit card that everyone wanted to leave immediately and we just left cash. And a two and a half dollar tip on an $86 bill.
I have only given lousy tips when dining with these friends. Well, only twice, and the first time we didn't leave a tip at all due to even slower service at an IHOP.
So Jenni, if you're reading this, please don't hate me for stiffing the waiter, I doubt the poor service was entirely due to the waiter either time, but this was pathetically bad and I give into peer pressure easily.
