Well here goes. I'm ready for a bunch of people to get pissed off but I don't care, as long as Chris isn't pissed. I know Chris will actually listen and take into consideration what I say, that is why I bother.
Chris you have a very valid argument and I commend you for thinking about this.
"GWB defied the UN when he invaded Iraq and went against international opinion. He has cut heath benefits for the elderly. He has been the only US president where all 50 states have simultaneously struggled against bankruptcy."
True he did defy the UN, the answer to that is why. The UN would have wanted to do it a whole other way which would have taken much more time and money. The UN would have set up their own government and alot of bad shit would happen, I don't feel like explaining right now. Really I don't think we should have gone into Iraq, because those people are too ignorant to free themselves. But Saddam was a threat to world peace, he had the missles to hit Israel and Saddam has launched at Israel before and I don't doubt he would do it again. If Israel were attacked, the middle East would break out into war, and we would be there in a second. Many more deaths.
Yes Bush cut health benefits to senior citizens. Remember Chris, we are a Capatilist country. It's not the governments job to take care of the elderly and the poor. That is the charities job and or churches. I know it sounds cold hearted but if you provide to much to every common man there is no motivation to work, and people begin to just sit on their ass and do nothing. It is also way to expensive. Look at the European countries who accepted socialism, they are all bankrupt. It all comes down to what you value, at the end of the day do you want to be putting food on someone else's table while they sit on their ass and don't work?
Well let's look at Clinton's economic plan, he allowed there to be an explosion in economic growth rather than steady growth. By doing so he allowed a short term stimulus on our economy. A year into Bush's term the affects of the explosion wore off. We went right back into a recesion. 1 year is not enough time for a president's economic plan to fully take affect. Clinton had 8 years. The fact that all the states were on the verge of bankruptcy was because of poor governorship, like Davis. He spent, and spent, and spent, and spent. He spent money he didn't even have, created jobs he couldn't support and California went down the tubes.
"He has established the patriot act, which allows the US government to: read your emails, tap your phones, take your picture, and incarcerate you without a warrant and based on suspicion alone. I could go on. This isn’t the best track record for a president thats for sure. In fact it is shit. George W. Bush is a shitty president."
The Patriot act was created to protect all of us, to prevent acts of terrorism like 9/11. Don't like it? Don't whine about the government not knowing about terrorist plans, or stuff like that when or if we get attacked again. GWB is not the best president, and I don't agree with everything he does. He is better than all the other candidates and I agree with him more than I do with all of the others.
"Think about it. America was founded by slave owners that stated: "All men were created equal" All men, except for niggers, indians, and women."
George Washington freed all of his slaves. Not everyone was a slave owner, Ben Franklin started an abolitionist group. Many of the founding fathers were not slave owners. Eventually that issue was dealt with in the civil war. Man is by nature evil, therefore he must change to be good. Big change doesn't happen in a small amount of time with man. It takes time for a big change to happen. Would you say that that there are more civil rights now than then? We have changed for the better and that basis had become true.
As for people talking about the draft, I don't belive Bush is garunteeing a draft. Show me proof that it is garunteed. I really doubt that will happen. If it does, it will be for a good reason. Unless Bush totally changes or does something horrendously stupid. If it does, it is your job as an American to go and serve. Men have fought and died for your freedom believe it or not. This country has also provided you with a great home, a safe and civil place. Don't believe that or like it? Leave, go somewhere else because America is such a shitty place. If you don't like the ideals we were founded on or the common ideals now, leave. If you're constantly saying how good other countries are compared to us, go live there. America was founded a Capitolist Republic, and was meant to stay that way.
As for calling Bush an idiot, that is way out of line. Until you graduate from Yale with a business degree, don't call him an idiot. He is not an idiot. Maybe he makes stupid descisions in your mind, or dumb descisions in your mind, that does not make him an idiot. Maybe you don't agree with him, that doesn't make him an idiot.
Maybe you don't agree with me, but that does not make me an idiot. I don't agree with Chris, but I assure you he is no idiot. That is the problem with politics these days. There is no regard of respect for the other side. The liberals say Bush is evil. When Clinton messed up, we didn't say he was evil. We said things like he was a disgrace to the presidency etc. Because he had an affair IN the White House and lied about it.
Everyone said Reagen was an idiot, he is now regarded as one of the best Presidents ever, the Economy was great under him. He fixed an economy that was destroyed by Carter, who imposed heavy taxes and bankrupted many people. The government isn't our economy, so why should we give all of our money to the government? Do they know how to use our money better than us?
