Americans need to try poutine

Sep 21, 2009 20:24

And that is my only advice to any of you. Gravy, deep fried potatoes, cheese curds and green onion.. ughhh. So good that it makes my heart hurt, quite literally. I haven't had a good poutine in a while though! Time to stop by Fritz's? Or Belgian Fries? And yes, it needs to be cheese curds.. delicious, stringy, melt-in-your-mouth dairy.

I'm going over to Danielle's tonight for Gossip Girl. We have a new-standing Monday night tradition with Judy and Jing now to amass snacks and watch television! Is this what growing up is like? I ask myself this every day. I'm bringing over a plate of cheese cubes, pickles, cucumber and fruit. My face is currently exploding so I figured bringing a plate of fried perogies, onions and bacon (my original plan!) wouldn't help my sitch.. so! I kinda wonder if it's the Lush tea tree water that's making my face go whacko.. but I refuse to believe that anything that smells so good could be bad for you! Judy is bringing noodles and I told Jing (the least domestic out of all of us) to just bring some smoked deli meat.. for a charcuterie plate of sorts, yay!

I have an appointment at the dr tomorrow for my long-running gastric malady. I tend to throw up, for no reason, after a large meal. I don't even feel sick.. it just feels like my body completely rejects whatever I've consumed. I start salivating a lot, throw up a bunch of sputum and that in turn causes me to throw up whatever I've just eaten. This tends to happen a lot after I eat sort of thick, liquidy foods.. like ice cream, congee, cereal. I know - sick, right? I also have zero appetite usually, and I'm starting to look a little gaunt. It's not a good look and I'm a little worried considering my brother was recently diagnosed with that auto-immune disease.

On a brighter note, this weekend was super fun. Danielle, Rachel & I managed to see Girl Talk twice in a row and get onstage both nights to dance! I was pretty stoked that we got wristbands since only 50 were given out.. honestly, I probably wouldn't have cared if it had been any other venue but, the fact of the matter is a big part of me was super excited to be backstage at the Commodore. It will probably never happen to me again. First night was a total fluke in terms of getting tickets (sold out show) and getting wristbands (right place at the right time!).. the second night we got on guestlist after befriending one of the stage guys & the promoter was kind enough to pass us wristbands again.

Excitement factor aside from being on stage, I would have hated to be out in the crowd. Sunday's show was way better and people behaved, but Saturday was a WEIRD bunch of people - very Granville Strip and pretty douchy. Pete & Martine got tickets too for Sunday at my insistence, and I could see them the whole time I was partying from my little corner.. Adrian was there too, omfg, why is he so adorable? Ugh. He kissed me at the back bar, and now I have this stupid uncontrollable crush and want to do stupid dirty things with him. However.. I've begun the typical over-analytical phase of liking a boy and it is slowly undermining my confidence.

In other news, I must get my oil changed for the first time ever. I've already hit 30K.. eek! I think I was supposed to get it done like at the 25K point?! I have no idea how often you are supposed to get your oil changed. I think the last time it was done was when I got my car and it had 22K on it. Fuck me, this is why I can't have nice things.

This blog makes me sound like such an unhealthy human being.
