Assignment fir acting class:
Perform a one-person show of the high(significant) points of your life in ten minutes. It must have the following qualifications:
a) It must be personal. Get to scenes, moments, events in your life that have been important and meaningful (if there are any areas that are very painful for you please don't go near them). This isn't isn't psychodrama. If, however, an area is emotionally difficult but also one that you want to explore then please do try it.
b) It must be theatrical. Rather than standing there and telling us, "Now this happened to me..." find a metaphor or a frame for your presentation. An example: a woman once felt that she had been waiting on tables for so long that she felt her whole life was working in a restauraunt. Her show was done serving imaginary customers at various tables. She served the doctor who delivered her, she ran head-long between the two tables at which her divorced parents sat, she served different food to different friends and lovers, huge amount of food to her bill collector and, being an actor, she kept auditioning for shows to producers and directors as she wsa taking their orders.
You can use lights, found lighting, sound, video and classmates in small parts. It needs to be scripted, but can be improvised to get there. It is to be no more than ten minutes long.
WOW!
