I'm doomed to have arthritis, my knuckles have never hurt so bad.
Seven hours of straight mowing. Usually when I go out to work with my dad
we'll get a break in between jobs when driving from one house to another.
We never left the one job, 15 acres of lawn... oh mylanta!
And it wasn't really a lawn at all... no one would go to this place except
to bid final farewells and perhaps to grieve their loss. It was a cemetery.
One section of it is called, "Baby Land"
Going back and forth over the graves and the grass surrounding them I
couldn't help but pray that the families who are tethered by emotion to
these slabs of stone are all right. These were someones kids. I wondered
if God was saving them from some terrible future, or if he knew they'd
choose him so he welcomed them home in their youth.
Eventually I made it through, Baby Land and started in on the husband and
wife grave plots. William is a very popular name, as is Charles.
The girl names were awesome, Lulu, Florence, Edna, Vern, Emma was a popular
one, I saw Ezra in there somewhere. I love looking at names on grave stones.
If I ever have one, I hope they put a nick name on it.
I don't think I want one though. There's nothing good about graves,
my cousin Shawna would disagree. I don't mean they're not cool or interesting.
I just don't want my family to gather around a big stone with my name etched into it.
I'm all for cremation. Sounds great. Sprinkled at sea!
I'm going to bed...
