Lorelei let's plan a really bad move!

I was listening to the song "Lorelei" by Styx on my way home, and I have to say that this song either makes no sense, or the people involved in the story here are just really stupid. At the beginning of the song, Dennis DeYoung sings this:

I call her on the telephone, she says be there by eight
Tonight's the night she's moving in and I can hardly wait

Since "tonight" is when she is moving in, I have to assume that when she asks Dennis to be there at 8:00, she means 8:00 PM. That means that he is planning on having Lorelei move in with him tonight, but not until at least 8 o'clock at night! Why are they starting so late? Lorelei must not have very much stuff if she can get everything moved in such a short amount of time. Either that, or they'll be moving the bulk of her things in the middle of the night, which makes no sense at all. Why not start in the morning, or at least the afternoon?

Now, later in the song, after he has already told us about his plans of them moving in together, he sings this:

Lorelei let's live together

Why are you proposing this now? You've already made your plans to move in, and it's happening on this very day! I really don't think you need to be making such a proposition, silly.

Oh yeah, and by the way, what does your wife SUZANNE think of this woman Lorelei moving in with you? I bet Suzanne is already pissed about the fact that she has to stay up all night moving Lorelei in because you planned your move so poorly. I think you've really made a mess of things here, Mr. DeYoung.
