News: Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Aug 11, 2009 17:37

The next few posts in this journal will be a little different than usual.

They'll still be reviews, in a fashion, but instead of reviewing books I'll be reviewing plays because I'm going to Ashland for the OREGON SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL!  (Yay!)

I'll be seeing six plays in five days:
Macbeth
The Music Man
Don Quixote
Much Ado About Nothing
All's Well That Ends Well
Henry VIII

Since 'The Music Man' isn't based on any novel, and doesn't quite have the literary clout of Mr. Shakespeare,  I will probably skip posting about that performance here.  But if you hop on over to my personal journal k00kaburra , you can read about it if you're interested.  The other five will be updated over the next week or so.  I'm not sure how I'll format the reviews, as I've never reviewed theatre here before.  Most likely they'll just be journal entries with random comments, but hopefully you enjoy them.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, started in 1935, is based in Ashland, Oregon, and generally runs from February through the end of October.  This year they are staging eleven plays in three theatres.  Each play's run varies in length, so the time of year you attend determines what you'll be able to see.  It draws visitors from all over the country to watch.
