Discussion Question: What's new with school?

Sorry folks, no review today :( I've a paper due tomorrow about postmodern fairy tales, and I'm plugging through my final draft. (It's so sad; writing the actual paper doesn't take me all that long, but getting myself to BUCKLE DOWN AND STUDY/RESEARCH/WRITE adds about three hours to every hour spent at work. I am the queen of procrastination and ( Read more... )

I'm between papers, but we just read Babel-17 in my science fiction class, and are moving on to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, I'm in the middle of Sense and Sensibility for my Jane Austen and the Gothic class, and finishing up The Once and Future King for Myth and Literature

its my last semester, so the only requirement I had to fulfill was that the classes had to be 300 or 400 level classes. They had two other really interesting classes I wanted to take, but they were all during the same timeslot (except SF). it was so disappointing!

I'm in my first year of grad school, and it's a little whoa.

My neuro prof was talking about how the brain creates perception irregardless of external stimuli, and all I could think was, "The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make heaven of Hell, and a hell of Heaven." by John Milton.

I'm actually out for fall break this week. Yay! :D

But I remember doing manifest destiny a few weeks ago in my U.S. History class, and I have a group project due in that class next Monday over the Cold War and its impact. Oh boy.

YOU GET A FALL BREAK????

...knowing this, I feel vastly cheated by the lack of autumn breaks in my schooling. I've never heard of a such a thing in schools before.

Usually, my fall break is only two days, but this time it's a whole week, and I love it. If it makes you feel any better, my school started on August 1st.

My favorite project would be the paper I wrote on Sandman: A Game Of You for a literary theory course. Not only did I get good marks for writing a college paper about a comic book, I got a note at th ebottom of the remarks about my grade saying that the prof was going to ask the library to order Gaiman's books.

Your paper sounds pretty nifty.

I'm a Sophomore in college right now. I'm taking Latin, Art Since 1945 and Women's Studies. It's a really awesome schedule. Latin is hard but incredibly interesting. It's so much fun learning roots of words. In art history we're studying Pop Art and in women's studies we're discussing women in the work place.

Latin seems like it would be so much fun to learn. Is this your first semester taking it?

I'm actually on a quarter system, but it is my first quarter. I can't read/write much, but I will get there by the end of the year.
